Program Duration: 900 Total Hrs: Theory 800 Hrs; Internship (Co-op Work Experience) 100 Hrs.

Program Overview
The Pharmacy Assistant Diploma Program provides an overview of the theory, principles, and practices of the pharmacy assistant. Areas of study include accurately and safely processing prescriptions, aseptic techniques, controlling inventory, keeping accurate and confidential records, third-party billing, acting within relevant legislation, and effectively communicating orally and in writing.

Admission Requirement
An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent**; or
be at least 18 years of age or older and pass an entry test

Career Opportunity
Potential entry-level employment opportunities will be in direct practice settings such as pharmacies in the community, the hospital, and other health-care facilities. Graduates may also find jobs in direct practice settings such as the pharmaceutical industry, computer software sales and support, and third-party payer organizations.

Internship (Co-op Work Experience)

This Course will provide the students 100 hours’ practical experience in community and hospital/institutional pharmacy settings.
